Dry Pipe Systems

Using Dry Pipe Sprinkler Systems to Preserve Your Facility In Case of a Fire

When the ambient temperature of a space dips below freezing, the limitations of wet pipe systems are exposed. To combat this potential problem, the dry pipe sprinkler is your solution. Double Eight Fire Protection specializes in the installation of these systems to help protect freeze-prone buildings from not only fire damage, but also frozen and broken pipes.

Advantages of Dry Pipe System Installation

The system is initially filled with pressurized air, not water. When the temperature reaches a minimum of 155 degrees, the sprinkler heads activate and the dry valve opens. This drops the built-up pressure and allows water to pass through, reaching the open sprinklers and preventing additional fire damage.

Most Common Scenarios and Uses

As noted, the dry pipe sprinkler system is most commonly used in environments that encounter temperatures that drop below freezing. The most common locations include, but are not limited to:

  • Attics
  • Restaurant canopies
  • Refrigerated coolers
  • Food storage areas
  • Parking garages
  • Unheated buildings
